November 11 – Jubilee Voices at the Talbot Avenue Bridge Lantern Walk

Members of Jubilee Voices will lead and teach songs at the 2023 Talbot Avenue Bridge Lantern Walk. The Walk is an annual fun, family-friendly local community event that weaves together neighborhoods once divided by racial segregation and fittingly takes place during Montgomery County’s Remembrance and Reconciliation Month. All are welcome and there are several ways to participate. Come join us in shining our lights in the darkness, promoting unity over division, remembering the past and taking steps toward a brighter future.

October 7 – Jubilee Voices at Pleasant Grove Church

This new presentation traces the legacy of traditional African American music from the 19th century to the Civil Rights Movement, with a blend of songs, stories, dance, local history and audience participation, illustrating how the music of enslaved Americans evolved into the “Freedom Songs” that energized the movement to end legalized racial segregation, disenfranchisement, and discrimination.
