Internships

Fall 2022 Internship Opportunities

Washington Revels offers internship opportunities for high school and college students throughout the year to assist with general office work and special projects. Our team of interns has the opportunity to observe firsthand how a small, non-profit theater company functions behind the scenes, to learn key office management skills, and to work with award winning theater artists, musicians and leaders including Roberta Gasbarre, Betsy Fulford, Andrea Blackford, and Colin K. Bills. Opportunities and schedule will be determined by the student in conjunction with the Community Stewardship & Volunteer Manager. All responsibilities will be based on interest and experience. Schedules should generally average a minimum of 8 hours per week but can be flexible depending on the needs of the student. Positions are unpaid but can fulfill community service or credit requirements.

For Fall 2022, Washington Revels will be offering three virtual internships and one in-person internship.

Virtual Interns

Virtual Interns will primarily perform tasks from their home on their personal laptop or desktop computer. Virtual interns will be given assignments via email and Google Drive. Virtual interns will participate in regular Zoom Check-Ins with members of staff who are managing the projects they are working on but otherwise will be able to complete their weekly work on a schedule that works best for them. This internship style is ideal for a busy student who wants to be an intern but isn’t able to commit to a commute or a strict schedule.

Additionally, virtual interns may be asked to come into the office to pick up materials or work on special projects that require extra in-office support. These opportunities will be worked out individually with interns on a case by case basis depending on their interest, ability and comfort level.

In-Person Interns

The in-person intern will be asked to work in the Washington Revels Office in Glen Echo Park in Glen Echo, MD one day a week, preferably on Wednesday afternoons and evenings for a six-to-eight-hour time period. This intern will be directly supervised by the Community Stewardship & Volunteer Manager and this position will be working on projects that cannot be done from home and that may involve physical labor. The in-person intern may be given work that can be done from home, but their primary job will be working on projects that must be done in person.

Additionally, the in-person intern may be asked to come into the office at other times to work on special projects that require extra in-office support. These opportunities will be worked out individually with the intern on a case by case basis depending on their interest, ability and comfort level.

Vaccination Requirements

All in-person interns will be required to be fully vaccinated prior to beginning their internship. This includes virtual interns who come to the office to work on a special project.

Applicants that cannot be vaccinated for health or religious reasons may participate as a fully virtual intern. If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please contact the Community Stewardship & Volunteer Manager to discuss additional accommodations.
