March 16 – Jubilee Voices at Pleasant Grove

Jubilee Voices at the Arlington Public Library

“Singing the Journey from Civil War to Civil Rights”

Join Jubilee Voices as they return to Historic Pleasant Grove Church for a songfest that traces the legacy of traditional African American music from the 19th century to the Civil Rights Movement, and beyond.

This performance will blend songs, stories, dance, local history and audience participation to show how the music of enslaved Americans evolved into the “Freedom Songs” that energized the movement to end legalized racial segregation, disenfranchisement, and discrimination.

LOCATION: 8641 Lewinsville Road, McLean, VA 22102 <view map>
