February 15 – Jubilee Voices at Frederick Douglass Birthday

Jubilee Voices performing at the Frederick Douglass House in Washington, DC

Celebrate the life and legacy of activist, orator, and statesman Frederick Douglass!

The Washington Revels Jubilee Voices will perform during the opening ceremonies of the annual Frederick Douglass Birthday Commemoration at the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site, part of an afternoon of free activities sponsored by the National Park Service. The ceremony kicks off at 10:15 am at nearby Anacostia High School with a performance by Jubilee Voices, with more music from the Voices throughout the proceedings.

After the ceremony, celebrate the 202nd birthday of this great statesman and local resident with special themed house tours, guest lectures, and an art program. This year the event also honors Women’s Suffrage with an exhibit by the DC League of Women Voters and special tours of the Belmont-Paul Women’s Equality National Monument.
