Jubilee Voices performs outdoors in folk festival at Glen Echo
On May 30 at 6:15 p.m., join the Washington Revels Jubilee Voices for a concert of traditional African-American songs and spoken word spanning the Civil War era to the Civil Rights Movement. Hear the songs and stories that helped lead a people from enslavement to freedom, and inspired movements for social justice. Jubilee Voices will sing a program of traditional African American spirituals, shouts, hollers, and protest songs, with spoken word drawn from historical figures such as Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, Fannie Lou Hamer, John Lewis, and more.
