Join Washington Revels Heritage Voices at a kickoff rally on May 3rd at the Beall-Dawson House to celebrate the start of #FreedomWalk2026 the next day.
Historian Anthony Cohen will retrace a 750-mile journey of 19th-century self-liberators along the Underground Railroad—honoring courage, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of freedom. Washington Revels are proud to co-host the Freedom Walk on two milestone dates with powerful performances by two of our vocal ensembles at the kickoff on May 3, and at the crossing from the United States into Canada on July 1.
