Sept. 6 – Teen Auditions for Winter Revels

Teen auditions for Winter Revels, September 7

Be a part of a spectacular holiday tradition seen by thousands of people each December!

Washington Revels announces teen auditions for Winter Revels—Andalusian Treasures. Our 43nd annual production features Jewish, Arabic, and Spanish Music, Dance and Drama.

Our tale begins in ancient Spain. Three foolish adventurers stumble upon a secret treasure room. The treasure glows with a magical light that seems to bring inestimable joy. When that light disappears on the darkest night of the year, a quest begins. What is the light? Can it be rekindled?

This fully staged production takes us on a magical journey to celebrate the rich cultural legacies of the Moorish, Sephardic, and Iberian peoples, featuring Howard Bass, Susan Gaeta and Tina Chancey of Trio Sefardi and Arab-American composer, vocalist and oud player Laith Alattar. Musical treasures will include exquisite Arab-Andalusian and Sephardic music; lively Villancicos (Spanish folk carols); a Sevillanas (flamenco-style dance); a comic “play within a play;” and, in classic Revels tradition, opportunities for the audience to join in carols, rounds, and more!

The Christmas Revels chorus is at the core of every production. Cast members are people who love to sing, who are enthusiastic about bringing music to life on stage, and who come from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and experience levels.
