Feb. 18 – Jubilee Voices at Douglass Birthday Celebration

Jubilee Voices will perform during the Opening Ceremonies on February 18, 10:15 am at the Anacostia Playhouse. This program includes a keynote address by historian Dr. Leigh Fought (author of the forthcoming Frederick Douglass’s Women), music performed by Jubilee Voices and speech recitals by the talented young winners of the 2016 Oratorical Contest.

A nation at war, a city under occupation, and a people exploring newfound freedom–this was Alexandria, Virginia in the midst of the Civil War.
