July 4 — 128th Takoma Park Parade

Washington Revels Parade

March with us — and sing if you like — in the 128th Takoma Park Independence Day Parade!

All revelers, all ages, both veteran and new, are invited to march with us — let’s show thousands of spectators something of what Washington Revels is all about! If you prefer, come sit curbside and be one of the cheering spectators.

This year’s parade is particularly special for Revels, because we will be joined by a group of 6 teenage Syrian refugees and their 6 teenage American hosts, in partnership with RefAmerica. Let’s give our Syrian friends a warm welcome and a fun window onto a slice of American life!

As always, our joyous and robust band of revelers – adults, teens, and children – will be a colorful and lively musical section of this historic parade. Please dress in white (or as close as you can get) and Washington Revels will supply multi-colored sashes, arm ribbons and flower garlands. We will be accompanied by the Hobby Horse, bright banners and ribbon sticks, and more! Kids are welcome (including kids in strollers), and older ones will have their own song to sing and can help hand out flyers to spectators. We need some adult flyer-hander-outers, too, so non-singers are very welcome! Also, if you play an instrument that can be easily carried and you would like to be in the band, let us know that as well. If you would like to march with us, please send an email by July 3rd to parade@revelsdc.org with your name and the name(s) of anyone coming with you (plus the ages of anyone 13 and under), and we will email you the details (including a song sheet with words and links to the music).
