Feb. 18 – Jubilee Voices at Douglass Birthday Celebration

Celebrate the life and legacy of activist, orator, and statesman Frederick Douglass during this unique event!

Jubilee Voices will perform during the Opening Ceremonies on February 18, 10:15 am at the Anacostia Playhouse located at 2020 Shannon Place SE Washington.  This program includes a keynote address by historian Dr. Leigh Fought (author of the forthcoming Frederick Douglass’s Women), music performed by Jubilee Voices and speech recitals by the talented young winners of the 2016 Oratorical Contest.

The National Park Service celebration takes place on February 17 and 18, 2017, with special programs and activities at the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site and the Anacostia Arts Center located at 1231 Good Hope Road in historic Anacostia.  A complete list of programs can be found on the National Park Service’s event page. The birthday celebration is one of the site’s annual signature events. This year’s event is based on the theme “Frederick Douglass and the Arts.”
