September 9 — Jubilee Voices in Chevy Chase

Jubilee Voices at the Surratt House

Join us for another FREE concert at the Friendship Heights Village Center!

This time it’s Jubilee Voices performing in the Center’s concert series. In June, Maritime Voices kicked off the series, then Heritage Voices took a turn in July, and now Jubilee Voices will take the stage for a concert of traditional African-American songs and spoken word spanning the Civil War era to the Civil Rights Movement. Hear the songs and stories that helped lead a people from enslavement to freedom, and inspired movements for social justice. Enjoy traditional African American spirituals, shouts, hollers, and protest songs, and spoken word drawn from historical figures such as Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, Fannie Lou Hamer, John Lewis, and more. Be ready for a musical journey and some singalongs.

DATE/TIME: Wednesday, September 9, 7:00 to 8:00pm
LOCATION: Friendship Heights Village Center, 4433 South Park, Chevy Chase, MD 20815
TICKETS: Free and open to the public.
